The 3rd Oil and Gas Anti-Corruption Compliance Exchange @ Houston Marriott Energy Corridor
Sep 29 – Sep 30 all-day

The oil and gas industry faces unique anti-corruption challenges given the sector’s international nature and complex working and contractual relationships with government, suppliers and contractors. Identifying and navigating the various pitfalls and corruption challenges that arise while operating within jurisdictions across the globe requires today’s global oil and gas organizations to continuously update one’s compliance program.

Intentionally crafted for in-house counsel, compliance and business leaders and practitioners within the oil and gas community, and building upon the incredibly positive feedback from the re-structuring of Momentum’s 2014 event, the 3rd Oil and Gas Anti-Corruption Compliance Exchange has been specially formatted to include a mix of plenary sessions, breakout groups and roundtable discussions designed to facilitate the sharing of useful insights and practical solutions for ensuring your company’s successful and compliant business operations across the globe. Throughout the event, attendees will benefit from the opportunity to dive deep into the most pressing anticorruption challenges currently facing the oil and gas community while participating in a mind share of expert best practices and proven strategies.

My presentation will be on Day 2, titled  “Catch Me If You Can: An Up Close Examination of Bribery on the Front Lines of International Business; A Former FCPA Prosecutor Interviews a former FCPA Violator, with James M. Koukios, Partner, Morrison Foerster.”

During his time as Senior Deputy Chief of the Fraud Section in the Criminal Division of the U.S. DoJ, Mr. James Koukios, now Partner at Morrison Foerster, tried over 20 federal jury cases, including serving as the lead prosecutor in two landmark FCPA-related trials, United States v. Esquenazi and United States v. Duperval. Join Mr. Koukios as he interviews me and where I  will reflect on how I “rationalized” bribery on the front lines of international business. Mr. Koukios and I will also engage on  the process of “flipping” me as a cooperator and why as a target of a DOJ investigation, I decided to cooperate in two countries.
